To embrace one another with our whole hearts is perhaps the greatest act of recognition and appreciation there is. – Maria Popova
Uranus is in now in Gemini and people…the flags of the gosh darn individualists are flying. It’s a time when narrow definitions simply fail to capture the spirit of life. As a counterpoint, there are also all sorts of diversions, misdirections, straight out ruses designed to catch our attention…with surprise, pop and sizzle. Don’t look over there, we’re told…look here.
Lord knows we’ve been groomed for this…brought to a place of distraction with our screens and the pyrotechnic gyrations of this generation’s charlatans, but my oh my we must, now more than ever move closer to what’s true, what we know deep in our marrow, constitutes realness down to the bone.

That’s what Pluto in residence in maverick Aquarius, the newest grand diva of the zodiac, requires, nay , demands! This is not about fakery, this is playing life for keeps.
The above is simply a predicate to this month’s numerology, which in this ONE Universal YEAR, and SIX Universal MONTH, asks us to take action to bring care and community to the forefront. This isn’t just see one, do one, teach one in need, this is embrace one, with all the energy and vigor we can muster.

Folks are struggling, disengaged and sorrowful. Choosing to jump in to do our bit, however humble can be part of a grand scheme of protection against harm, where we join, together, gathering each and everyone in a heartfelt canoodle, body and soul.
In the Tarot this is represented aptly by the notion of the Lovers, a card that speaks to our capacity as humans to select the virtuous when faced with an a mind numbing multitude of decisions:
“The Lovers card may also be understood alongside key ideas from the philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard: we face an existential choice between … life paths, either one(s) willfully hedonistic or one(s) grounded in our sense of ethical duty.” – Benebel Wen
My grandmother, born on the shores of different nation (which was ruled in turn by an entirely different nation), consistently hugged me and my sister at each parting stating if she died now, she’d die happy knowing we were were adored and cherished. Her daughter, my mother, continues the practice adding her a chant made special by the Andrew sisters:
“I love you a bushel and a peck
A bushel and a peck
And a hug around the neck
Hug around the neck
And a barrel and a heap
Barrel and a heap
And I’m talkin’ in my sleep
About you, about you, about you”

As the website Lion’s Roar: Buddhist wisdom for our times reminds us…hugging is an opportunity “to practice our awareness of impermanence. Each time we hug, we know it may be the last time.”
That duty is the stuff of human consciousness and evolution.

Hug as many anothers virtually or literally as you see fit. And may wisdom light your way…
