Greetings from the pacific. Polynesia has been coveted by numerous nations over many centuries, parts of it carved up into spoils of war, of capitalism, subjected to the indignities of power and caste dynamics. But still its essential beauty remains.

In our few remaining days in this ocean oasis, my family and I are trying to savor each moment, from the iconic warm gentle breezes, to the high canopied bird song. Like this incredibly fortunate late fall interlude, December asks us to observe the totality of life, to grasp and absorb its myriad nuances from a place of reality, to perceive life as it is, rather than as we would wish it to be.
Our desires for better times notwithstanding, accepting our citizenship in the land of now obligates us to operate on many levels. As living organisms operating within a living system, we not only have a part to play, our life affirming contributions are key to everyone’s survival.
This is not to say that figuring out what the right things are is an easy task. Existence is messy and mystifying but ways forward, do dwell within the labrinyth of meanings and choices. December, a universal three month, asks us to mindfully explore those pathways, to join in joy, to make our unique offering again and again.

As an aspect of the cosmic conscious, goddess, universal hive mind…essentially whatever you call this collective life, our being-hood is not inert. Our choices always have consequences even if we do not realize it in the moment. The adventure of life is to move, as my Step-Dad always said, off the dime. Do your homework, try your best to strive for a simpatico synthesis, that holds more than one reality at once. Action, even from a place deep within us is discernment and recognition of where we are now. And how you choose to go forward matters.

Question: What enterprise do you need to set in motion? What do you need to finish first?
January is almost upon us…get ready.
